Vismo Monitor App

The Vismo Monitor App allows organisations to better manage alerts triggered by employees using a mobile device or tablet. When an alert is activated, administrators of the account receive a message with the individual's last known location, phone number, email address and an audio recording from when the alert was activated.

What is employee location monitoring?

Employee location monitoring is the practice of tracking and overseeing the safety and whereabouts of employees in real time - particularly those working alone, remotely, or in environments where risks can change rapidly. It is a core component of an employer’s lone worker safety obligation under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

A complete lone worker monitoring system typically combines three layers: a mobile app or device that the employee carries; a management portal that administrators use to view locations and respond to alerts; and, optionally, an outsourced monitoring service that provides 24/7 human oversight when the organisation cannot self-monitor around the clock.

Vismo’s monitoring approach covers all three layers - giving organisations the flexibility to choose the level of coverage that matches their risk profile, workforce size, and operating hours. The three options are:

Vismo Monitor App - self-monitoring via mobile device, for administrators who need alerts on the go

Vismo Secure Portal - self-monitoring via web browser, giving full visibility of the entire workforce on a live map

24/7 Monitoring Options - outsourced monitoring via Vismo’s partner network, with Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) cover for organisations that need a round-the-clock response

What is lone worker monitoring?

Lone worker monitoring is the process of tracking and safeguarding employees who work without direct supervision - in remote locations, alone on client sites, or outside standard office environments. It involves real-time location tracking, check-in schedules, panic alert capability, and (where needed) 24/7 oversight by an Alarm Receiving Centre. Under UK law, employers have a duty of care to lone workers and must take reasonable steps to protect them. Learn more about Vismo’s lone worker safety solutions.

What is the difference between self-monitoring and outsourced monitoring?

Self-monitoring means your own administrators use the Vismo Secure Portal or Monitor App to receive and respond to alerts from your workforce. Outsourced monitoring means Vismo’s partner Alarm Receiving Centres handle alerts on your behalf - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Both options use the same underlying Locate & Protect App and alert infrastructure; the only difference is who is watching and responding.

What is an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and does Vismo use one?

An alarm receiving centre (ARC) is a staffed facility that receives and responds to security and safety alerts on behalf of client organisations. ARCs operate 24/7 and are used by organisations that need a human response to alerts at all hours, without maintaining their own in-house security operations centre. Vismo’s partner network includes ARC providers who can be integrated into your monitoring setup via the 24/7 monitoring options.

What lone worker monitoring system does Vismo provide?

Vismo’s lone worker monitoring system combines the Locate & Protect App (the device-side component), the Vismo Secure Portal (the web-based management interface), and the Monitor App (the mobile admin tool) - all connected to Vismo’s partner monitoring network for organisations requiring outsourced cover. The licence tier chosen determines which monitoring features are available.

Can Vismo monitor remote workers and business travellers?

Yes. Vismo’s remote worker safety monitoring and employee location monitoring capabilities extend to employees working internationally. The Global licence supports worldwide GPS tracking, and for locations without mobile coverage, Vismo’s satellite devices provide an alternative location feed. This makes Vismo a complete travel security and monitoring solution for organisations with globally mobile teams.

What lone worker monitoring software does Vismo offer?

Vismo’s lone worker monitoring software consists of two components: the Locate & Protect App (the employee-facing mobile application) and the Vismo Secure Portal (the administrator-facing web platform). Together they provide real-time location tracking, check-in management, panic alert reception, and incident logging - the core functions of any lone worker monitoring service. A mobile companion - the Vismo Monitor App - extends the same alerts to administrators’ smartphones.

What types of worker does Vismo’s monitoring cover?

Vismo’s employee safety monitoring is designed for three groups: lone workers (employees working without direct supervision in any environment), hybrid workers (employees splitting time between office, home, and field), and travelling employees (those deployed to remote regions or high-risk countries). For each group, the monitoring approach and licence tier required will differ - Vismo’s team can advise on the right configuration for your organisation.

Does Vismo support emergency response as part of its monitoring offering?

Yes. All Vismo monitoring options are connected to emergency response workflows. When an alert is raised, the Secure Portal and Monitor App display the employee’s last known location, contact details, and an audio recording from the time of the alert - giving responders everything they need to act immediately. For organisations using outsourced monitoring, the ARC can escalate directly to emergency services where required. Vismo also supports mass notifications to communicate with all affected employees during an incident.
